2009 Treasure Island Festival Lineup Announced

2009 Treasure Island Festival

We told you about the rumors a few months ago, and now we’ve got a confirmed lineup for the 2009 Treasure Island Festival (with most of the rumors turning out to be true).

The two-day festival will be headlined by MGMT and the Flaming Lips. As with the past two years, the folks at Another Planet Entertainment kept the two days largely broken up by genre with electronic artists dominating Saturday’s lineup and Sunday dedicated to more straight-forward indie.

The lineup again includes a healthy dose of local bands. Vetiver, Sleepy Sun, Crown City Rockers, the Limousines, Thao Nguyen and Tommy Guerrero will all represent the Bay Area. Tickets are available here.

We were also a little surprised to see Grizzly Bear listed below The Decemberists and Beirut and Passion Pit and Dan Deacon before Brazilian Girls and The Streets.

Saturday, 10/17/09 Sunday, 10/18/09
MGMT The Flaming Lips
MSTRKRFT The Decemberists
Girl Talk Beirut
Brazilian Girls Grizzly Bear
The Streets Yo La Tengo
Passion Pit The Walkmen
LTJ Bukem (f. MC Conrad) Bob Mould
DJ Krush Thao & The Get Down Stay Down
Federico Aubele Vetiver
Dan Deacon Spiral Stairs
Murs Sleepy Sun
Crown City Rockers Tommy Guerrero
The Limousines Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros

Overall, this is another very strong lineup (some might say a lot stronger than their marquee event, Outside Lands). What do you think? How does this lineup stack up against Outside Lands, past years’ TI lineups, and your expectations?

Well I hope MGMT is getting better live. It’s be nice to see Vetiver, Sleepy Sun, the Limousines and Tommy Guerrero getting some love.

I’m not surprised one bit to see Grizzly Bear listed below The Decemberists. Decemberists have way bigger of a following than GB despite the fact that they made a better album this year. Beirut and Passion Pit before Brazilian Girls and The Streets….yeah I dn’t understand that either. Maybe it’ll be the same set times. My assumption.

    Hey
