The Avett Brothers Cover the Boss’ ‘Glory Days’
The Avett Brothers were the latest to participate in Bruce Springsteen’s “Hangin’ out on E Street” video series – a clever marketing promo that features modern artists making over their favorite Boss tune.
The Avetts run Springsteen classic “Glory Days” through their folk-rock filter and the result is loose, back-porch fun.
The series also features covers by Josh Ritter, Wyclef Jean, Pete Yorn, The Gaslight Anthem, Nicole Atkins, Ted Leo, Juliana Hatfield, Tegan & Sara, Against Me!, Mat Kearney, Bouncing Souls, Valencia and San Francisco’s own Birdmonster.

These guys are so great live! They have so much energy and look like they really enjoy themselves.
They should put out an album of covers like this outstanding one. They’re all I’ve been listening to since our son (Marine Corps captain, 36) clued me in about them last year. His mother, my bride, does not get them. Go figure!
As an old guy, I can do with a less screaming, but the instrumentation and harmonies are the best. And they seem to be decent young men…for a change. A great discovery!
