Bitch, I Love You [Happy Valentines Day]
We’re not ones to get too sentimental around here, but we couldn’t pass up this opportunity to post a great track from Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears (not to be confused with UK blues act Big Joe Louis).
Although they’re a current act, you’d never know it. The eight-piece ensemble pumps out dirty garage-soul that evokes the high-octane grit of luminaries like Otis Redding, Little Milton and James Brown (think Black Keys and North Mississippi All-Stars, but with more swagger).
Also, we gotta credit Lost Highway Records for cooking up a clever marketing ploy. Head on over to create your very own “Bitch, I Love You” Valentine’s e-card for that special someone in your life, courtesy of Black Joe and his Honeybears. “Bitch” is from Lewis’ new self-titled EP, produced by Jim Eno of Spoon.
For more, check out their recent Daytrotter session or pick up the EP at Lost Highway.
