Buzz Bands: Stay in the Know

snapshot-2009-03-08-13-41-351

Bosque Brown – “Went Walking”

“Went Walking” is a stunning, eeriely beautiful track off of Bosque Brown’s first full-length release, Baby which hit stores on March 3rd. If you like whiskey, cigarettes or early Cat Power, I highly recommend adding it to your record collection.

Young Coyotes – “Momentary Drowning” [Daytrotter Session]

Maybe woo hoo ooh hoo oooohohohooo just sounds better live, but this Daytrotter version of the Young Coyotes song “Momentary Drowning” resonated with me more than the studio track. The Basement EP dropped March 10th and is chock full of “nah nahs,” catchy hooks and shiny textures.

Clues – “Perfect Fit”

Former members of Arcade Fire and Unicorns make up the band Clues who are set to release their debut album on May 18th. I find “Perfect Fit” pretty interesting, but since I haven’t read a single write up of them that doesn’t mention their pedigree (even my own), I think it’s best to wait and see.

Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti – “I Can’t Hear My Eyes”

Let’s get weird. Actually I don’t really want to get into a conversation about how bizarre Ariel Pink is, but I mean come on. COME ON. Actually, I’m posting this in hopes that someone who was at the Bottom of the Hill show on St. Patty’s Day can tell me how it went?

The Clues show at the Rickshaw during Noise Pop was incredible(http://tinyurl.com/csxzn9). Expect to be impressed.

@Hippies Are Dead – Shit. I would have loved to see that. Good to know that they’re meeting expectations.

Love that Bosque Brown track. She just might be one of the strongest female solos out there at the mo’.
