In the Know: Broken Social Scene, Dr. Dog, Joanna Newsom

Broken Social Scene will return after five long years of solo efforts with the release of Forgiveness Rock Record on May 4th, 2010. To celebrate the occasion, they’re giving away the first single “World Sick” on their myspace.
Even better, they’re hitting The Fillmore in San Francisco on May 1st, 2010 (and you thought this day would never come!!!).

“Shadow People” is the latest track to be released off Dr. Dog’s forthcoming April 4th LP, Shame, Shame. The tune doesn’t stray too far from their feel-good, Beatlesque sound, but who’s complaining?
They’ll be hitting San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall for two nights in a row in late April.

Forget the double-disc album, Joanna Newsom just released a three-disc monster known as Have One on Me. That’s right, there’s over two hours of new material on this bad boy. But fear not, it’s a little bit of an easier listen than her last effort and even more beautiful.
Have a listen to “Does Not Suffice,” the album’s final track, and let me know your thoughts in the comments section.

Love Joanna!I heard the stream on NPR last week and it’s a solid set.
