In the Know: Nirvana, The Very Best, Winter Hinterland and El Perro Del Mar
Whenever the moon is just right, the Vague Panther picks his favorite MP3s from the web to bring you the “In the Know” series. If you’ve got a tip that might pique his interest email him at vaguepanther(at)strangerdance.com.

On November 3rd Sub Pop will release a 20th Anniversary Edition of Nirvana’s Bleach complete with a remastered recording of a 1990 performance at Portland’s Pine Street Theater. Usually live sound quality can be dicey, but if “Scoff” is any indication fans shouldn’t have to worry.

The Very Best made a name for themselves with 2008’s mixtape, Esau Mwamwaya and Radioclit Are the Very Best. Now they’re back with an official debut that mixes indie-rock vibes with Afropop beats to create slick dance floor hits. Check out Warm Heart of Africa’s title track, which features a special guest appearance from Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig.

Gotta credit gorillavsbear for this one. White Hinterland’s (aka Casey Dienel) cover of Justin Timberlake’s “My Love” is so odd and hypnotic that I can’t really tell if it’s serious (in other words, pretty great). The track is featured on a new tour-exclusive EP, Fresh From the Garden. If you dig where this is headed, check out her EP, Luniculaire.

Although this track was part of El Perro Del Mar’s March 2009 release, Love is Not Pop, it only now seems to be making the rounds on the internets. Maybe it just needed to marinate? Either way this jam seems to have a slower, Swedish “All Along the Watch Tower” vibe going on that’s very soothing (shoot me, but I swear it’s there – listen to that bass line).
