Iron & Wine Play In-Store in SF, Thursday 5/7
Well hello there Aquarius Records, do you have yet another way to prove just how awesome you are? Yes, you do indeed. Admittedly, by posting this, we’re potentially sacrificing our own sacred spots in Aquarius’ rather limited space to salivate in Sam Beam’s presence. But, this is why we’re here.
One of San Francisco’s finest independent record stores is attempting to fill the hole in the hearts of those who didn’t manage to get tickets to Iron & Wine’s May 6th and 7th performances at the Swedish American Music Hall . . . by hosting the band for a special in-store performance. This is beyond expectation, as a) Amoeba Records tends to have a monopoly on in-stores from touring acts as they come through town, and b) Aquarius is quite small, bringing new meaning to the term “intimate performance.”
This performance takes place tomorrow, May 7th, at 6:00 p.m., at 1055 Valencia St. (between 21st and 22nd) in the Mission. Get there early – in fact, that’s an understatement. Get there REALLY early.

Wow. Yeah, that’s going to be full.
I wouldn’t say that Amoeba has a monopoly. Aquarius just had Grouper a couple weeks ago. Rasputin, mostly the Berkeley location, and Streetlight have some.
Well, “tends to have” is the operative phrase here. But yes, other stores do sometimes have in-stores.
