MONDAY: Bishop Allen, Throw Me the Statue at the Rickshaw Stop
This Monday, November 8th will see a wonderful trio of out-of-town bands at the Rickshaw Stop: Brooklyn’s Bishop Allen, Seattle’s Throw Me the Statue, and New York City’s Darwin Deez.
Bishop Allen’s headlining spot is in support of Grr…, out now on Dead Oceans. Both the latest album and 2007’s The Broken String are excellent lessons in intelligent, straightforward indie pop, the distinct Bishop Allen sound that is also captured in the band’s ambitious one-EP-a-month project back in 2006.
Opening the show will be Throw Me the Statue’s lo-fi, Pedro the Lion-esque rock and Darwin Deez’s limber, hyperactive pop. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and costs $15 – buy your tickets here.
