New Video: The National – ‘So Far Around the Bend’
If you haven’t already picked up a copy of the Dark Was the Night compilation yet, stop reading this and go down to the nearest record store and pick it up (or head over to InSound if you wanna be all modern about it). The compilation is the latest by the Red Hot Organization, an international charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS.
Curated by Aaron and Bryce Dessner (best known as two-fifths of SD-favorite The National), the comp features nearly every major star in the current indie music universe. The Dessners also appear all over the compilation, guesting with Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and Antony & the Johnsons as well as with their full-time band on the slow burn of “So Far Around the Bend.”
The band released the following video, directed by frequent collaborator Vincent Moon.

Fans of Bryce Dessner might also want to check out the compositions he created for this website, http://www.21stcenturyabe.org. It’s music inspired by Abe Lincoln for his 200th birthday. You can even download the tracks and do a remix!
