Noise Pop 2009 Preview: Thursday Shows

NoisePop 2009 San Francisco music festival

The past two nights of Noise Pop have been great with excellent performances from Deerhunter (photos/review), Antony and the Johnsons, Stephen Malkmus, Mountain Goats, French Kicks and many more.

Tonight brings even more amazing shows, with performances by Stranger Dance favorites like Josh Ritter, Thao Nguyen, A.A. Bondy and Kool Keith, the craziest rapper alive.

There are also a host of great local bands including Thee Oh Sees, Scissors for Lefty and Man/Miracle (many of which were featured on our recent Best of the Bay Area compilation).

Oh yeah, there’s also a doom-metal band Goblin Cock (nope, not a typo).

The Fader magazine is also hosting their second (of three) free happy hour at the Diesel’s Post Street store featuring DJ spots by Aaron Axelson, Papercuts, Sam Moeller (of Daytrotter) and Trainwreck Riders, as well as an acoustic performances by excellent local band Birdmonster.

We’ve pulled together samples for most artists (in chronological order in case you get ambitious enough to try multiple shows).
