Grammys: Hey, That Might Have Been Worth Watching!

I’m not a fan of award shows – too long, too dull, and I don’t really get off on seeing celebrities glammed up and celebrating themselves. Last night’s Grammy Awards, however, had some pretty cool performances – not enough to sit through the whole thing, but great for YouTube highlights. The winner was definitely an about-to-pop pregnant M.I.A. doing “Swagger Like Us” with Kanye West, Jay-Z, T.I. and Lil Wayne. How cool was that? A close second was Radiohead’s performance of “15 Step” with the USC marching band. Very cool as well.

Lowlights? Yeah a couple … Al Green and Justin Timberlake’s version of “Let’s Stay Together” was stale, but I’m laying that one on J.T. Also, Jay-Z and Coldplay doing whatever song they do together was positively atrocious. Thanks Coldplay, you can go away now. Anyway, here’s M.I.A, et al. and Radiohead from last night – and you can check out all of last night’s performances here. Enjoy …

Right there with ya Cor. I can’t stand awards shows (the Grammys least of which), but it seems like they stepped up their game with presenters this year.

WTF is the story with the Brown/Rihanna brouhaha? I have to admit that I couldn’t muster a single song name by Chris Brown if held at gunpoint, but I hear the kiddies like him.

Also, did I read that right? Robert Plant won a country music award?!

MIA thing was cool, but can I ask why my TV needed to go to black and white for that? Lame. Also, I was liking the Radiohead thing too, but was a little disappointed the whole band didn’t show – I guess the USC marching band is acceptable.

Radiohead is a band? I thought it was just Yorke & Greenwood…

Yeah, that was kind of weird to me too. Apparently, Queen Latifa introduced M.I.A. and did some sort of setup that made that make more sense … I think. C’mon Panther, let them have their artistic vision!

By the way … how amazing would it be to be in that band? Oh, we’re only going to play with the biggest band in the world. No big deal.
