You weren’t starting to get festival fatigue, were you? ‘Cause there are still a few more to go. In addition to the second-annual Treasure Island festival, San Francisco now has yet another summer music festival to add to the list: the Slow Food Rocks Festival.
Although it has been thoroughly over-shadowed by Outside Lands, the lineup is pretty darn good, with Gnarls Barkley, Ozomatli, Medeski, Martin & Wood, the New Pornographers, Phil Lesh and a number of other good bands.
The festival is part of the larger Slow Food Nation event, designed to “bring together tens of thousands to experience an extraordinary range of activities highlighting the connection between plate and planet.”
The entire festival is put together by the folks at Slow Food USA, “created to organize the first-ever American collaborative gathering to unite the growing sustainable food movement and introduce thousands of people to food that is good, clean and fair.”
We hear that the food portion of the festival is unfortunately sold out, but the music portion is still very much available. After all three days at Outside Lands last weekend, I can only bare to go to the first night of this festival. Let me know how day two goes if anyone makes it.
