SD Presents: French Miami, By Sunlight, Silian Rail 6.10.09

Stranger Dance Presents - June 10th

Wednesday, June 10th marks the date of a very special evening at the Rickshaw Stop. Stranger Dance is proud to present two of our favorite local bands, French Miami and Silian Rail, with Seattle’s By Sunlight rounding out the bill. All three bands manage to create expansive sound with minimal members, challenging their contemporaries and pushing the envelope of their respective genres.

This show is all ages, costs $8, and doors open at 8:00 p.m. You can RSVP and invite friends to the event via Facebook.

French Miami ( MySpace )

French Miami’s self-titled debut was released on Dinner Party Records in 2008, and thus unfolded a barrage of sterling praise for the band’s angular, raw, energetic rock and roll. Synth-y, jagged hooks meet squarely with melodic, wiry riffs, structured around a reputation of the excellent and unrestrained live performance.

By Sunlight ( Official Website | MySpace )

By Sunlight take the best parts of Stereolab and the Dismemberment Plan to create sprawling, intelligent prog-rock. The hooks shimmer and surge while the vocals pierce and deftly carry each song, creating a lovely and soothing mix. Their self-titled album is available via the standard digital outlets.

Silian Rail ( MySpace )

Silian Rail manage to take just two people and create rich, complex art-rock that plunges deep and thrills the senses. The band’s instrumental songs on And I, You To Pieces (out now digitally via 500 Records) weave Robin Landy’s intricate guitar work with Eric Kuhn’s precise, explosive drumming, creating an album full of harmonic swells and glistening sonic textures.

MP3s:

French Miami – “Science Fiction”
French Miami – “The Goddamn Best”
Silian Rail – “Tituba”
Silian Rail – “I is Sombody Else”
