Stranger Dance Blogmine

[The Blogmine is a weekly feature where your fearless Stranger Dance staffers dig up all the gold hidden around the blogosphere. Feel free to pass along any interesting stories we may miss.]

  • Is “Little Dealer Boy” a new Christmas classic? Umm, yes. [Wired Listening Post]
  • The coming Colbert/Kanye apocalypse will spare nobody (yes, we’re on a Colbert kick this week … or every week). [Stereogum]
  • Grizzly Bear’s Ed Droste explains last week’s hilarious imbroglio involving Animal Collective’s “Brothersport” and Web Sheriff, the Internet’s No. 1 Kopyright Kop. [Grizzly Bear Blog]
  • Also, follow Web Sheriff on Twitter! (Hint: It’s not actually Web Sheriff) [Twitter]
  • Clipse’s “Road Till The Casket Drops” mixtape is available for download. [Complex]
  • What does Radiohead listen to at the office? And, more importantly, are you cool enough to listen to the same stuff? (Diplo!) [Radiohead Dead Air Space]
  • MGMT does Thanksgiving in France while performing “Kids.” [My Old Kentucky Blog]
  • My Morning Jacket puts their spin on Christmas classics in a live on radio performance. [Muzzle of Bees]
  • Miss Piggy Sings Peaches‘ “Fuck The Pain Away.” Stellar. [Rawkblog]
  • Gorilla vs. Bear’s top albums of 2008. Refreshing list without all the usual suspects (even if they’re way, way too kind to Q-Tip). [gorillavsbear]
  • A good dissection of Brighten the Corners for us Pavement nerds. [Aquarium Drunkard]
  • New Jay-Z and … it’s actually really good. More like this please, Hov. [Stereogum]

I want to ask a serious question because I want to know if I’m just biased or crazy or what. Is Kanye West driving anyone else nuts besides me? He claims to be the best musician of our time… I actually think his production is killer but he just appears to have an unfortunate personality trait that makes him super idiot.

No, I totally agree. He’s so obnoxious now. I loved him when he first came out and started souring on him the last album. He’s just a big ball of ego now. And his new album suuuuuuucks. Auto-tuning must die.

I agree. He’s undoing any modicum of respect I had for him. I’ve always said that he’s an amazing producer and an average-to-poor rapper. He’s now adding tremendous douche to that list.

You know how much I like the Miss Piggy video, but this might beat it, at least for the amazing dubbing work:

Kanye’s response to Colbert is awesome:
