Treasure Island Festival 2008 Announced

Treasure Island
The folks at APE Concerts just announced the second annual Treasure Island Music Festival, scheduled for September 20th and 21st. While no artists were announced, last year’s festival – headlined by Modest Mouse, Thievery Corporation, Spoon and Built to Spill – was a cool enough experience to warrant a quick announcement here.

Check out the official release after the jump.

After an immensely successful inaugural year, Noise Pop and Another Planet are excited to announce that Treasure Island Music Festival will be taking place on September 20th to 21st 2008. Picking up where last year left off, the two-day celebration promises to feature a stellar and diverse lineup of music in the most breathtaking setting: smack-dab in the middle of the San Francisco Bay on the historic Treasure Island.

Organized by the creators of the Noise Pop Festival, one of the nation’s longest-running t music festivals, and Another Planet Entertainment, nationally established independent concert promoter based in Berkeley, CA, the Treasure Island Music Festival has been called a “full blown love affair” by SPIN.COM, and has SF WEEKLY boasting that “NorCal has its own Micro-achella.”

Vague Panther remembers last year and learned a few things:

    1) Clap Your Hands Say Yeah might be the worst live band EVER.
    2) Spoon still doesn’t impress me.
    3) Built to Spill needed more stage time.
    4) DO NOT let your female companion pass out so that we miss Modest Mouse (I’m talking to you Stranger).

Nothing but negativity on a Friday morning…

    1) Totally agree
    2) You are a senseless hater. I wasn’t blown away, but still thought Britt & Co. put on a great show
    3) Agree again – I’ve liked Martsch’s studio work, but the live show put ‘em up a few notches
    4) No comment

  5. # 5 The Stranger Dance » Outside Lands Festival Tickets on Sale [OutLands SF] | March 31st, 2008 at 6:31 AM

[...] Just a quick reminder that Outside Lands Festival tickets went on sale this morning. Two tickets (and a nominal donation to both reforesting California and carbon offsets) set me back a whopping $530.90. The $262 I spent for my ticket is roughly what I spent on the past six months’ worth of concerts (including the Treasure Island Festival). [...]
