TV on the Radio Live on Colbert Report

TV on the Radio dropped by the Colbert Report last night, answering a few questions and performing “Dancing Choose” from last year’s Dear Science (one of our top albums of 2008).

Also, here’s the official video:

All in all it was a lot better than their SNL performance… the sound was way off or something.

Agreed. The sound was still a little off, but way better than on SNL.

So, I have a problem. I really liked the first album, but this one just does nothing for me. What’s the difference? I honestly can’t get more than a song into the new album before I have to turn it off. Like I said: First album was wonderful.

That was my initial response too. This album is definitely more of a grower than Return to Cookie Mountain – it took me a few weeks to come around to it.

In fact, the highs were higher on RtCM, but I actually think Dear Science is a stronger album.

Wow, did I just say that?

Yes, Dear Science > RtCM. Said it in my review and I’m sticking to it.

Ah ha! Kyp came out and explained what happened during the SNL performance.

Turns out TVotR’s sound engineer is non-Union, and therefore wasn’t allowed to work that show, leaving it up to SNL’s apparently sub-par engineers:
